I've always been an animal lover. I rescued my first Kitten when I was 27 years old, and have been a sucker for any starving, lost, abused, or endangered animal ever since! My latest rescue is Annie. We call her that, we don't know her real name, but the previous rescuer called her Granny, and I thought that to be rather disrespectful, giving away her age (about 30 at the time). So we named the thoroughbred race horse Annie. She WAS almost starved, blind, riddled with rain scald, worms, arthritis, and mites. She now weighs over 900 lb (she's VERY old, her optimum weight is about 1000 to 1200 lbs), which is EXTREMELY good for a 34 year old mare. It costs a lot to care for her, but I'd do it all over again. She's SO gentle and loving, she gives my grandchildren rides. |
